Eric is currently the Fire Marshal and CUPA/Hazmat Manager for the City of Santa Monica Fire Department. Eric has over 20 years of experience in the fields of Fire/Life Safety and Hazardous Materials serving in positions with several academic institutions, including Caltech and UCLA, and the cities of Long Beach and Santa Monica. Eric served as a member of the State of California CUPA Forum Board and was the Underground Petroleum Storage Tank Steering Committee Chair and Issue Coordinator for the Southern California Region.
For the past 16 years, Eric has held several positions in the Santa Monica Fire Department that focused on hazardous materials management and enforcement. Eric has been active in the design and review of several alternative energy installations including CNG, LNG and Hydrogen. Many of these were constructed before national codes and standards were in place, making design review a challenge.
Eric holds a Bachelor of Science in Aeronautical Engineering Technology and a Master's of Science in Environmental and Occupational Health Science and is certified by the State of California Fire Marshal as a Fire Marshal, Plans Examiner, Hazardous Materials Specialist and Fire/Arson Investigator.
