Abstract

Work under the Hydrogen Agreement of the International Energy Agency on storage, energy conversion and safety was started in 1983 by Canada, the F.R.G., Japan, Sweden, Switzerland and the U.S.A. Some of the results achieved within the main areas of the program are summarized: hydrogen storage in metal hydrides and in liquid form, hydrogen as a fuel for ground transportation vehicles, hydrogen embrittlement of ferritic steels as well as the transition from deflagration to detonation of hydrogen-air mixtures. Based on the context of other projects, an outlook for the program is given.
